Hey everyone!!!!
How's it goin eh?? haha... So not too much is going on here this week...
It's transfers but everyone in my district is staying put so transfers
doesn't affect anyone I'm immediately associated with.
The beginning of this week has been brutal though!!!!! it was so
frustrating!!!!!!!!! Well... pretty much every appointment we've had set
up for the last 2 weeks has been cancelled, and all of our investigators
aren't doing what we're asking them to, and that's not fun. When
investigators dont keep commitments, it makes me feel like they're not
taking me seriously and i really dont like that.. ugh.. So we went
through this "drought" if you will and its finally starting to turn
around.
Story time!!!!!!
So. About a month ago, we were over at a member's house for dinner. The
member's name is Vicky and basically she's amazing. In the middle of
dinner her doorbell rings and its this friend of her's that needed to
talk to her. After they talked, Sis Blake and I got to talk to her a
bit, and we ended up talking about the priesthood and how amazing it is.
Vicky has a daughter that got into a head on collision last year, and
wasn't expected to live, but the ward fasted for her, and the bishop
gave her a blessing, and she lived and has no side effects from the
accident. So Vicky's friend, her name is Rose, was at the hospital when
Vicky's daughter got the blessing and saw how the blessing healed her,
and has pretty much been fascinated about the Priesthood ever since. So
that was that for that night. haha.. Then a couple weeks later Sis Blake
and I were out tracting, and we were gonna stop, but decided to just
finish to the end of the street because there were only 3 more houses.
The last door we knocked on was Rose's house!! So she opened the door
and was like... WHAT THE?!?!?!?!?! She knew that we didn't know where
she lived and we totally realized that we were inspired that day. haha.
We didn't teach her anything when we tracted into her that day, but we
talked a lot and really got a good friendship going. Rose is so funny.
She's probably in her 40's and has a 14 year old son, and she's raising
him on her own. Oddly enough, her mom joined the church a few years ago,
but has since gone inactive. Anyways... So we went over to Vicky's again
a couple weeks later, and Rose was there because she was doing the
cooking! SO COOL!!! So I gave a spiritual thought on 3 Nephi 22. "For a
little while have I forsaken thee, but with everlasting kindness will i
gather thee." Yes Randi, totally got the idea from the song. haha. But
yeah. Gave the thought, and Rose's jaw dropped. Apparently I said
something that hit her close to home, and pretty much she told us to
start teaching her. So we taught her the first lesson last night!!
WOOT!!!!! It was sooooooooooo good. Normally she's all loud and
expressive, but by the end of the lesson, her countenance totally
changed. She was calm and happy and it was awesome. Man. I love
missionary work. She's so excited!!!She begs Vicky to tell her things
about the Church everyday!! haha!!! Vicky is convinced she's getting
baptized. haha. But Rose and Vicky are BEST friends. So what better
fellowshipper can you have?! MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! Vicky is going to go read
the Book of Mormon with her this afternoon so she doesn't lose the
spirit she felt yesterday when we were teaching her. SOOOOO
EXCITING!!!!!!
Basically... I love missionary work. And it's funny, because of last
night with Rose, I kinda just forgot about all the cancelled
appointments and the endless hours of unsuccessful tracting, because of
this one success, no matter how small it is. funny how that works eh??
haha...
Yeah... So that's so far been the highlight of my mission and I'm
excited to keep you updated with what's going on with Rose. Pray for
her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also... Sis Blake and I have taken to singing the hymns when we're
tracting. haha. It's like we're carolling but not, and the songs are
better anyways! Haha!!!!!
Yeah... I'm sorry i dont really have much else to say.... But like i was
telling you before... this week has been nothing but tracting. We didn't
even get to have a conversation with anyone. People were mean this
week... lots of slammed doors... which is kinda funny when you think
about it. People are stubborn.
uhhh... Oh. Dad. I got your letter too. So you're attention starved eh??
Well. I'm devoting this next paragraph all to you. DAD!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!
haha!!! When we teach the first lesson to someone, we tell them about
how the Gospel blesses families, and how we need to pray. So to help
them grasp the concept of talking to Heavenly Father, I tell them about
how i get to talk to you every week, and how i know how much you LOVE to
hear from me. It's the same way with Heavenly Father. He LOVES to hear
from us too, because he's our spiritual Father. Then I tell them how I'm
totally a Daddy's girl so i think about things i need to tell you a lot.
Yeah. So Dad... I'm totally a Daddy's girl and i talk about you to our
investigators too. haha.
And mom!!! I dont want you to feel left out. I think of you a lot too.
Mostly this past week because we made cookies to give to our
investigators. Turns out they dont have Chipits here and the Hershey's
milk chocolate chips just aren't anywhere near as enjoyable. so if you
ever decide to send me a package.... chipits would be a wonderful
inclusion. haha. but yeah. Its funny how much a cookie make me think of
you. haha. Oh and also. Remember that picture i have of you when you
were holding Clarke when he was a baby? yeah, so when people ask me what
you and dad look like, I whip out that picture and the normal response
is... That's your MOM?! Are you sure this isn't YOU?! haha... So yeah.
From what people tell me, I'm the spitting image of you, and I like it.
Mom.. You're a babe. haha. No Jokes!! Ask Dad!!!!
And Clarke!!! WRITE ME A LETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I know you're busy
with school and stuff, but i wanna know how its going!!! SO DEAL WITH IT
AND WRITE TO ME!!!! haha!!
Also Ian.. I wrote you an email last week and I'm still waiting for a
response.. So get with it eh?
Grandma Dyer.. I got your letter again too. Thank you!!! I've been
telling Sister Blake a lot about you lately too. haha. Not even anything
in particular, but you talk about what you're thinking so i suppose
that's a good thing. haha..
Yeah.. That's all for my shout outs today. Tell everyone else that I
love them. Keep up the good work and always remember that The Church is
True!!!
-Sister Dyer
